Yesterday, the Varsity Boys Soccer team beat Rye 1-0 in the quarter finals of sectionals. It was a chilly and windy day, but a large crowd still showed up. During the first half, the game was pretty equal with play moving back and forth in both teams’ defensive halves. Initially, neither team was able to score. In the second half, Byram stepped up with much more intensity. Eventually, Byram pushed up the field and junior Max Hammond was able to get his foot on a ball coming across the box, thrown in by junior Leo Wangensteen. Max Hammond found the net, scoring a goal for Byram, and ultimately secured the 1-0 win. From that moment on, Byram continued with its strong attack and was able to finish the game on top. The Bobcats’ next game is against Somers tomorrow at home with a chance to go to the Sectional Championship. Come support!
