Girls Soccer Finishes on Top in Homecoming Game

By James Bastone

In an important game on Homecoming night, the Bobcats got a crucial 6-1 victory against Lady of Lourdes.

The Bobcats had a great opportunity to score in the 3rd minute of the match on a cross inside the six-yard box, but unfortunately, no Bobcat could get on the end of it.

The Bobcats opened the scoring in the 38th minute from Dylan Starker who scored off a fantastic breakaway finish with only goalie to beat.

The Warriors responded with a quick goal of their own, with a beautiful shot to tie the game 1-1 heading into the half.

In the 42nd minute, the Bobcats retook the lead from a great individual effort by Kalie Hoffmann who made a 20-yard run from a pass in the midfield and put it by the keeper.

The Bobcats struck again on a 3-0 breakaway when Kalie Hoffmann passed it across to Senior Jamie Rosh to extend the lead the lead to two.

In the 59th Byram had another great chance to score on a 1-0 but the Warriors goalie made a great save. Senior captain Jamie Rosh got another goal in the 61st minute from a well-placed pass from midfield to stretch the lead to 4-1. Rosh completed her hat trick 5 minutes before game’s end to all but end an exciting homecoming game. Rosh scored one more goal right at the end to finish off a dominating 6-1 win. Rosh adds, “We came out wanting to dominate but began the game flat. We ended the first half tied 1-1. At half time we took a step back to evaluate the way we had been playing. The turf is our field, and it was our homecoming game. At the end of the day, we wanted it more than Lourdes did. I’m very proud of the way that we came together in the second half. I expect even more for our team this season!”

The Byram Hills Varsity Girls have now gone 3-0 in their first games. We wish them luck for the rest of their season!

On another note, the Byram Hills Junior Varsity Team also clinched victory at Lourdes. Both girls soccer teams are off to a great start!
