The NFL season is back and Byram Hills students can not be more excited! The first game kicked off on September 5th. The game featured the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears and ended up being a very close one. It was a great way to start the 2019-2020 NFL season!

Many students in the school are excited for the season. While a majority of the students are Giants or Jets fans, a couple students go against the big following in our school and end up going a different route. For instance, Michael Rocco is an LA Rams fan, Bobby Chicoine is a New England Patriots fan, and Jackson Mackey, along with myself, are Detroit Lions fans. Bobby Chicoine, a loyal Patriots fan, had some thoughts about the start of the NFL season and his New England Patriots: “Although you are sad that the summer is over, football season cures that sadness and creates excitement. My Pats are the defending Super Bowl Champions, so it will be interesting to see if we can repeat that again.” While many students follow NFL teams throughout the season, many students also play Fantasy Football, a game in which the participants serve as general managers of virtual professional football teams. The competitors choose team rosters by participating in a draft in which all players of a real football league are available. Many students play fantasy football with their friends, making Sundays very competitive. Mr. Andriello, a Byram Hills teacher who is also a football fanatic, explained that fantasy football has “helped to maintain [his] friends from High School.” Furthermore,  Mr Andriello added that fantasy football has changed the way people watch football, and because fans are now so focused on individual players, people watch a lot more games.

The NFL is back. Get ready for 20 straight weeks of professional football, from week 1 until the Super Bowl. My Super Bowl prediction? Detroit Lions over the New England Patriots 28-21. Yes, I am serious and 100% confident.
